Retro Art Vol. 2: Marvel Comics Edition

Another round of old school art out of the vault. I’m definitely a huge superhero fan and spent a lot of time when I was younger reading comics or just mimicking my favorite characters through art. In this case, The Incredible Hulk and of course, Spider-man. Some are hand drawn, others are vector pieces or a mixture of both. You (at least I can) see certain spots that look a little choppy, but this was like 10 years ago, give me a break. lol.

Retro Art Vol. 1

Back when I was still getting my feet wet well over 10 years ago, I experimented a lot more with traditional art. Your basic ink and paper sketches, even playing around a bit with cutting and pasting (Actual cutting paper and pasting it.) This is the start of my mini art series showcasing a lot of my older work. I’ve got everything from comic shorts, crappy paintings, vector art and more. Maybe someone will find it interesting.

Gene Starwind (for those of you familiar with Outlaw Star…or not) is one of my earliest Vector pieces done in Macromedia Fireworks. Even after all these years, I love it. Face came out great but I definitely did a poor job with the white strapes. Ahh well, can’t win ’em all, right?

Back when I spent the majority of my time sketching. Everyone has attempted to draw their hand at some point. *looks at hand* Hasn’t uhh, you know, changed much in the past 11-ish years. Or whatever.

SouthPark; 5.28.2002

I was a big fan of Matt and Trey’s work with South Park that I had to attempt a construction paper version. Not bad for a first try. RIP to Kenny (again.)

Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years

Much to my delight, we were able to make it into the Metropolitan Museum of Art before it closed to check out the “Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years” exhibit. Unfortunately, we made it a bit later than initially expected and weren’t truly able to explore as much as I wanted to. To take it a step further, they denied visitors from taking pictures on their camera’s. No worries, we’re fake rebels and snuck a few shots on iPhone camera’s instead. So much cool shit, so little time. Anyway, take a look at a few sample pics below.

Writer Short Story Request: Midget Ninjas With Gold Fingernails

.Chandler didn’t understand, and at this point, as he put the key in the lock, he was pretty sure he didn’t want to. He shifted his bag of groceries out of one arm and into the other as he nudged open his apartment door. The place was quiet, unassuming at best, but that didn’t mean that Chandler didn’t know any better. Muttering under his breath about the invalidity of squatter’s rights, he mentally ticked off the numbers, dropping to a knee when he hit ‘one.’

True to his suspicions, there was a whoosh of air that came a little too close for comfort. It was followed by a thud into the wood of his front door, then a curse –a tiny curse of ‘kono yarou’ (which Chandler had learned after hearing it enough that it meant ‘You bastard’) – letting him know it was okay to stand.
