Looking for some summer smoothness…abliet in another lanuage? Well! I have something for you!
Swings, a member of K-HipHop Crew Overclass (DO NOT QUOTE ME. The entire wiki page looked like this)
has dropped a new banger! And look at this! A black woman is the lead! Along with Beenzino (a member of Illionaire records – along with his “he MIGHT think he’s a light skinned black man member DOK2) Zion T of Amoeba Culture, and GRAY (who I’m still researching) have come together to give us “A Real Lady”. Now while you might not recognize a face from the video, XXL has. Swings, DOK2 and Beenzino were all featured in their article 15 Korean Rappers You Should Know .
This track is addictive, it’s smooth, it’ll make you nod your head. And the video is pretty dope too! Check it out!
After news got around that the group would be attending YMCMB’s pre-grammy party, a quiet buzz started to reverberate around all social media platforms. What could Lil Wayne possibly have to do with Aziatix?
Now I’ve talked about Aziatix before, mainly because I’m in love with them. The group is comprised of Eddie Shin (the GOD of Silky Locks), Nicky Lee, and Jay “Flowsik” Pak. This isn’t a K-Pop group. This is a R&B Soul and Hip Hop group. With Eddie and Nicky on the vocals, and Flowsik with the rhymes, this group has a laundry list of awards and recognition, amongst some being : debuting at #1 on the U.S., Japanese, and Korean R&B/Soul iTunes list, and being the first Asian American group to be featured on AOL’s music home pages. Born in Boston, MA, Los Angeles and Flushing, Queens, NY, respectively, this trio have been heavily influenced by urban-soul sounds and continue to please us with addictive beats, and beautiful lyricism.
So again, I reiterate, this is not a K-Pop group. This is your above average American soul and hip hop group. So now that you’ve seen them, you can get a little, just a corner of the excitement (and that’s an understatement, Aziaddicts are losing their collective shit) we have now that YMCMB’s has taken the prime opportunity to sign these guys. More opportunity to see them at shows, more opportunity for them to shine, more opportunity to see them on television and more opportunity to let their music be heard.
If I’ve been shoving bubblegum pop down your throat (I haven’t but the for the sake of argument lets say I have) and you’re sick and tired of it, I apologize. To make up for it, I now plan on shoving electro-beat-hip-hop down your throat in the lucid form of MFBTY.
Comprised of the husband-wife due Yoon Mi Rae (English name: Tasha Reid) and Tiger JK join up with Jungle Entertainment labelmate Bizzy to form the fan-named hip hop trio MFBTY.
Now, if you’ve never heard of Tiger JK or Yoon Mi Rae, they are often hailed as the Korean Hip Hop Beyonce and Jay-Z. Yoon Mi Rae’s mixed African American and Korean heritage, her flawless English (she’s American after all) and her hip hop entrenched lineage (her father was a hip hop DJ, mixed with Tiger JK’s LEGENDARY Underground Hip Hop status in Korea, then you can tell that anything they have or will produce is going to something you should at least listen to.
I don’t know too much about Bizzy,What I do know is, he has opened up for Drunken Tiger on numerous occassions, has collabborated with artist such as MIB and Jay Park, and his YouTube videos aren’t lacking in hits, if you know what I mean. But as a signee under Jungle Entertainment, it’s not hard to tell what quality of music he makes too. If anything, his appearance alongside Yoon Mi Rae and Tiger JK speaks for itself.
Now a collective under the name “My Fans Better Than Yours”, they’ve released their first single, “Sweet Dreams”. Awesome special effects, great cinematography, and a subliminal plot, MFBTY has managed to make a hip hop video that appeals to both the ears and the eyes.
And I know that 2013 just started, but I don’t see too many videos or songs that are going to surpass this. And maybe I’m speaking out of turn, but if we compare it to the videos of 2013, it’s STILL the HEAVYWEIGHT champ, something you favorite (and mine, I’ll be honest) won’t be able to do. So, check out their video “Sweet Dreams.”
You know I’m an Aggie, right? Oh you didn’t know? North Carolina A&T State University Born and Bred and when I die I’ll be Aggie Dead! Wait! This isn’t random, there is a connection, don’t leave me yet!
On that post-collegiate note, I want to start this off by apologizing. I’m not a music blogger; you’re not going to be blown away by my reviews. Shit, I can barely read good. The only thing I do is convey a certain love for music. If I can nod my head to it, whether it be Hip Hop of K-Pop, it’s good music to me (and I have impeccable taste, if I must stay so myself). If I can put it in my CD player and let it play, no interruptions, then it’s GREAT music to me.

J.Gunn
So, although this won’t be some magical advent into a musical greatness structure that will astound you, you’ll still want to hear me out. I’m not typing what I’m about to type because I went to school with this MC. I went to school with a LOT of rappers, they were everywhere. You couldn’t go to class, down the strip, across The Bowl, up by the plots, down by Vanstory, etc without a mix-tape being thrust into your hands. I know, I dated a few of them and I tended to use their CDs as coasters or Frisbees (that variable depended on the weather).

But despite all of the distractions a campus full of “up and coming” rappers provided, no matter what era, I’ve always dug this dude’s music. And I’m not alone. So has BET Music Matters, NxLevel Music Group and Street Flaava Entertainment. After that connection, J.Gunn began touring across the east coast and under them released an album, (“The Perfection Xperiment 2″ which featured production from 9th Wonder, Krhysis and Nicolay of Justus League fame) creating a legion of internet and international fans. And we’ve followed him all the way.
So as paramount as his career has been, his fans have been there from jump; yelling his name out in public, asking for autographs, running behind his car. You know, real life well deserved groupie shit (no #lol). From the freestyle battles in Moore, to The Sky release party at Greene Street, to Pinot Noir and now a Dime a Dozen.
(Aye look for me at 2:04 BLACKABLACKAPOWPOW!!)
.Shot on location during the GREATEST HOMECOMING ON EARTH, (trademarked and stamped, gracias) J.Gunn brings to us a ‘Dime – a – Dozen‘ from his latest musical triumph ‘God’s Speed‘. The track comes with an old school feel that embodies the party life while cultivating a sense of an old friendship that will never die. This is the track you play when you’re on the yard, at a cookout, on the way to the club, INSIDE the club, leaving the club, right before you walk in to Waffle House, you name it. It’s just that smooth. It culls a sense of reminiscent memories out of you, the good times, a “let’s sit down and remember Summer ’07” sort of vibe.

The track, released earlier this week, has already made it to the front page of DJBooth.net amongst the likes of ASAP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Big Boi and Rihanna. You can check out their review (because they are so much better than me at this sort of breakdown and buildup of good music). You an also check him out at BET Music Matters and at J.Gunn Music for more information, booking info, and more. @jgunnisbetter
